Lesley Young, Head of Policy & Chief Driving Examiner DVSA

Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)

Lesley was a driving instructor before joining the then DoT as a driving examiner in 1985. During her 30+ years with the Agency, she has gained extensive experience in driver testing and training and has led a number of significant changes to both the driving test/motorcycle test and ADI examinations. As CDE and head of profession she is a regular speaker at road safety events and also represents GB as a member of the Expert Advisory Group for CIECA.


Jacqui Turland, Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors

Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)

Jacqui has been with the agency for 14 years holding various posts. Previously she was Deputy ADI Registrar and Deputy CBT Register Manager and she has also worked in communications, policy and Data Protection teams. Prior to joining the agency, she worked as a civilian administrator for the Metropolitan Police Service, and worked at various locations including New Scotland Yard and in various roles including the forensic service and investigating road traffic offences.


John Galloway & Mike Newman

Speed of Sight

With Mike Newman's World Records came the dream. How to share the feeling of being alive. Whilst on this journey, others who had challenges of their own living life with disabilities inspired them to share the amazing life enhancing experience, so Speed of Sight was born. John Galloways involvement is behind the scenes helping to assist with the overall project management associated with Mike's 8 World records. Today John's role within Speed Of Sight is too help drive initiatives with strategic partners and sponsors, while forging long term relationships with supporters.


Mathew Myers


Matthew Myers is the Claims & Compliance manager at Mastercover. With over 30 years' experience within the insurance industry. Matthews's role focuses on compliance, ensuring customers receive a fair treatment and get the cover they require and specifically ensuring that claims are dealt with as quickly as possible to the befit of our customers. Mastercover is one of the largest driving school insurers in the country and has been providing specialist insurance to driving instructors from a panel of major insurers for over 30 years. Their aim is to provide an excellent all round service and their experienced team are on hand to assist you.


Andrew Brown-Allan

Andrew is the Group Marketing & Propositions Director at Trak Global Group. He is a marketing professional with over 20 years’ experience, helping international businesses to create value through disruptive thought and creativity. Andrew works both corporately and across the group's suite of wholly-owned subsidiaries, operating in 5 countries, Trak Global Group is one of the world's largest telematics companies, gathering and interpreting data from connected devices to help organisations manage driver and vehicle risk. To date, they have gathered and interpreted over 14 billion miles of driving data.


Helen Ferrar

Helen established a long and successful career in banking, working across retail, commercial and corporate sectors with management roles focusing on customer service, relationship management and business development. "I am a great believer that the customer is king no matter who they are and you should treat others how you would wish to be treated yourself. Delivering excellent customer service is at the core of everything I do because quite simply if you look after your customers well then the business should follow." For the last 8 years she has worked with Collingwood on promoting their Learner Driver Insurance product.


James Lee

Lessons2 go

James is an enthusiastic, customer-focused entrepreneur with experience managing large scale operations for McDonalds Restaurants in Scotland, as well as operating various enterprises including online retail outlets. His passion for designing systems mixed with his knowledge of psychology and business management have contributed to his success. James's latest project is a business model aimed at simplifying the operational side of driving schools. Recently James won a business innovation award at the Scottish Edge, Scotland's leading competition to identify and support the most promising entrepreneurial talent.


Graham Feest


Graham is an experienced Road Safety Practitioner starting his career with Worthing Borough Council in 1974. He was appointed County Road Safety Officer for Northamptonshire in 1989 a post, he held until May 2001 when he joined IAM as Head of Road Safety until 2003. He is qualified to teach at both Further and Adult Education Centres. He is Chairman of the UK National Road Safety Committee, Chairman of the Institute of Master Tutors of Driving. He was honoured by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in 2004 with an Award for Distinguished Service in recognition of his outstanding contribution to road safety.


Chris Maynard

Castle Mini Buses

From the beginning, Chris's aim when creating the Castle group of companies was to set new industry standards for schools when dealing with minibuses. Pioneering services for schools that save them essential time and money and encouraging them to be as safe as they can be when transporting pupils. Chris is now spearheading a safety campaign in titled "Greater than 8? Don't take a chance, get a D1". Lead by Chris's passion for minibus safety and correct training, it is about educating schools on the risks they are taking should they choose not to have their minibus drivers fully qualified.


John Rogers

Disability Driving Instructors

John Rogers is CEO of the Association of Disability Driving Instructors. John has been working with disabled people for over 25 years both as an ADI and, whilst working for Driving Mobility, as a driving assessor; he continues to run Mobility Driving School when time permits! Over the years John has also built up extensive experience providing training and education courses to ADI's, healthcare professionals and driving assessment staff, he continues to work extensively in this area and Disability Driving Instructors is developing further training over the coming year.


Andy Mitchell


Andy has an MSc in Marketing and a reputation for creating business growth across a variety of consumer markets. He has enjoyed more than a decade in the driver training industry where he has helped steer some of the UK's largest driving schools to success. He took responsibility for FBTC's marketing and commercial activities in 2014 and has cemented their leadership position as provider of Accountancy Services to driving instructors and self-employed.
