SPEAKER

Lesley Young, Head of Policy & Chief Driving Examiner DVSA

Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)


Lesley joined the Department for Transport as an examiner in 1985 after stints as a police officer and driving instructor. She started out at the Clifton test centre in Bristol and has since held various roles within the DVSA from supervising examiner (ADI) and sector manager to staff instructor and prior to her promotion deputy chief driving examiner Lesley is responsible for influencing policy development of driving, riding and road safety standards and leads on new driving and road safety initiatives and programmes. She is also accountable for the standard and quality of driving and riding tests.

Jacqui Turland, Deputy Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors at the DVSA

Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)


Jacqui has been with the agency for 13 years holding various posts previously she was Deputy CBT Register Manager and she has also worked in communications, policy and Data Protection. Prior to joining the agency she worked as a civilian administrator for the Metropolitan Police. She worked at various locations including New Scotland Yard and in various jobs including the forensic service.

Adrian Hide, Senior Consultant

Adrian is a highly-experienced road safety professional with over twenty years' track record of creating and delivering successful services for the public and private sectors. He continues to hold his DVSA Approved Driving Instructor qualification which was gained in 1986 along with his more recent acquisition as a DVSA Fleet Registered Trainer. Adrian's roll involves working with organisations to help them with their responsibilities in managing work-related road safety.

Neil Greig, Director of Policy and Research

IAM RoadSmart


Neil joined the IAM in 2007 and his role involves setting the strategic direction for IAM RoadSmart's Policy and Research Division, co-ordinating its research programme and working with the media and opinion formers across the UK. He also represents IAM RoadSmart in Scotland and in Brussels on working parties of the FIA Mobility Division. From 1992 to 2006 Neil was Head of Policy for the AA Motoring Trust. . During this time, he also served as National Programmes Director for EuroRAP introducing and promoting accident risk analysis work in several European countries.

Graham Feest, Road Safety Consultant


Graham is a UK based Road Safety Consultant. He is an experienced Road Safety Practitioner with more than forty years' experience having been amongst other appointments County Road Safety Officer for Northamptonshire and Head of Road Safety for IAM RoadSmart. Graham spent 25 years as Secretary of AIRSO (Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers) initially alongside his other employment and for twelve years running the Association as part of his consultancy. He relinquished this position in March 2016.

Eunan MacGuinness, Director

EMG Driver Training


Eunan is a driver training consultant who is both a grade A instructor, and an advanced automotive engineer. A former technician & AA Patrolman Eunan has the background of how cars work as well as how to drive them. Eunan works in the advanced and performance car training area for a number of high performance motor manufacturers, on road and track, as well as the fleet industry working with company car, van and LGV drivers to ensure that they are safe and competent when using vehicles. In addition, he works for a major vehicle equipment manufacturer as a technical trainer.
