The Secretary of State for Transport (SoS), Heidi Alexander, updated the Transport Select Committee on 17 June that DVSA would start to publish additional data on driving test waiting times.
Publishing additional data
The SoS confirmed that DVSA will publish additional waiting times data which gives a fuller view of the learner experience than ever before.
This data will be published from today (Thursday 18 June) and will be updated every month, broken down by each individual driving test centre.
Publishing data to accurately reflect the actual waiting times of learner drivers was one of the recommendations made by the National Audit Office (NAO) report into driving test waiting times.
This data will not replace the existing 10% availability waiting time measure but will be published alongside it. The new data includes actual median (average) waiting times.
For tests carried out in May 2026, the median waiting time was 9.7 weeks. Giving you a clearer picture of driving test waiting times – Despatch for driver and rider trainers
