About Us

Who We Are

The Motor Schools Association of Great Britain (MSA GB) is one of the longest established national bodies for driver trainers in the world, having started back in 1935 just before the introduction of the driving test, it is the senior association for driver trainers in Britain. The association provides members with information both electronically and in print.

How it works

MSA GB is run on behalf of members by a Board of Management, who are all working driving instructors, elected in each of the association’s 10 areas. They are paid no salary for the work they do. The areas and nations also elect committees who organise local events including meetings, seminars and social events. The MSA is a company limited by guarantee there are no shareholders and any profits are used for the benefit of members.

Membership

MSA GB membership is open to Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructors (DVSA ADIs) and all road transport trainers are welcome including motorcycle, lorry, bus, off road and theory trainers.

Trainee licence holders, potential driving instructors and those training to be ADIs (PDIs), driving school proprietors and other interested parties may also join. PDIs are welcomed into MSA GB membership and on qualification are converted to full members at no extra charge.

Services

The association includes several services in the membership fee including Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance in the sum of fifteen million pounds (£15,000,000) for MSA GB for members engaged in any driver training activity that they are competent to deliver either through qualification or experience.
