Safeguarding in Driver Training – 19th October 2026

Safeguarding in Driver Training: A Practical Course for Driving Instructors

Would you know what to do if a safeguarding concern arose during a lesson?

Led by Neil Wightman, Safeguarding in Driver Training is a practical and engaging course designed to help driving instructors understand their responsibilities, recognise potential concerns and feel more confident about taking the appropriate action.

Rather than looking at safeguarding purely in theory, the course brings it into the reality of driver training, exploring the professional relationships, communication and situations instructors may encounter in their everyday work.

What will the course cover?

🚗 Safeguarding principles
🚗 Professional boundaries
🚗 Social media and communication
🚗 Recognising concerns
🚗 Recording and reporting
🚗 Real-life scenarios for driving instructors
🚗 Alignment with the DVSA Code of Practice

At the heart of the course are three important actions: Recognise. Record. Report. The aim is to help instructors understand not only what they should be looking out for, but what to do next.

The first course takes place on Monday 19 October, with further sessions on Monday 16 November, Tuesday 24 November and Wednesday 9 December 2026.

Develop your knowledge, increase your confidence and strengthen your professional safeguarding practice.
