DVSA previously informed you that Disclosure Scotland has made the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme mandatory for those working in regulated roles in Scotland.
Both approved driving instructors (ADI) and potential driving instructors (PDI) are considered a regulated role.
Since 1 April 2025 it has been a legal requirement for ADIs and PDIs teaching either under 18’s or protected vulnerable groups to be PVG scheme members.
Update your records
DVSA has now updated its registration system on GOV.UK to allow all instructors in the UK to update their records and provide PVG details.
How to update your PVG information
If you are now registered with the PVG scheme, please log into the Driving Instructor Service as soon as possible to update your record via the Integrated Register of Driver Trainers.
