Speakers

Dr Lisa Dorn Associate Professor of Driver Behaviour School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing Cranfield University. Will talk about ‘Changing Driver Behaviour’

Dr Lisa Dorn is an Associate Professor of Driver Behaviour at Cranfield University and Founder of PsyDrive, a specialist provider of research, assessment, and training for improved road safety. Lisa has worked on a range of projects funded by the EU, research councils, government agencies and industry and designed hundreds of training and educational interventions for improving driver behaviour. She has published over 50 academic papers and authored and edited 9 books including the DVSA official guide to Better Driving. In 2004, 2008 and 2018 Lisa received the Prince Michael International Award for Road Safety in collaboration with Arriva Bus, Thames Valley Police and DriverMetrics. Currently, she is academic lead on a major research programme concerned with behavioural adaptation to automated vehicles.

Des Payne the British Horse Society

Des Payne- British Horse Society Safety team leader –Severed with the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, for nearly 30 years. Part of the riding staff, a team of 12 who trained the military personal and horses for all ceremonial occasions. Finishing as a Captain-Des has been in the BHS safety team since 2018, who implements the safety objectives and is also the safety volunteer role coordinator.

Olly Tayler QPM Co-Founder of the Honest Truth will talk about “Small changes change Lives”

Olly spent 30 years in Public Service in a variety of Policing roles, all of them front line including patrol, neighbourhood and specialist operations.

He spent approximately 13 years on Roads Policing and during that time he attended and investigated countless serious and fatal road traffic collisions.  As a Lead Investigating Officer for such incidents Olly is all too aware of the consequences of poor decision making behind the wheel.

Having been an advanced driver and advanced motorcyclist for the Police Olly spent much of his time either behind the wheel or on two wheels, and knows all too well the importance of critical decision making and how behaviour and attitude can catastrophically affect the outcome of a journey.

Olly was awarded the Queens Police Medal (QPM) in the 2014 New Years Honours List for distinguished and exceptional service.  When presented this accolade by the Queen herself in October 2015 she made a point of asking about his work in road safety and with young drivers.
