From 2 February, DVSA’s phone lines will be open between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
This change is being made as DVSA receives a relatively small number of calls outside of these times.
For many customers, there will be no change. Over 98% of the calls received by DVSA are between 8am and 5pm and the same number of contact centre colleagues will be working during the new hours.
The change is designed to provide a better service for customers.
WhatsApp
Customers can now choose to contact DVSA’s customer service centre using WhatsApp messages.
This service has been trialled for a few months and has been found to work well for those who choose to use it. In the trial, it has been shown to be an efficient way to contact DVSA.
DVSA has chosen not to allow driving test swaps to take place over WhatsApp.
To use it, add the number +44 (0)1908 787001 into WhatsApp. It will only work with messages and will not work with calls.
Customers can message DVSA at any time, even if the customer service centre is closed. A reply will be provided when DVSA is open.
Customers can still choose to contact DVSA in other ways:
• X (formerly Twitter)
• Facebook
• customerservices@dvsa.gov.uk
• telephone: 0300 200 1122
No matter what method is used to contact DVSA, strict security checks are always applied to help protect against fraud.
This means customers will need 2 of the following to contact DVSA about driving tests:
• a driving licence number
• a theory test pass certificate number
• a driving test booking reference
