DVSA: What we have been working with the driver training industry on – and what it means for you

The DVSA wanted to update on their joint work with industry partners to protect and progress the driving instructor profession. As this work is something that will affect you directly as an instructor, trainer, school, or franchise – They wanted to make sure you heard it from them first.

The DVSA know the impact that car and ADI qualification test waiting times are having on you, your pupils and your businesses.

In particular they know the delays to ADI Part 2 and Part 3 tests are hard – for your business and your plans. The DVSA haven’t shied away from that in the blog post.

Update on ADI code of practice

The blog post updates on the joint work they have been doing with industry partners to update the ADI code of practice. They are aiming to publish the updated version in summer 2026.

The blog post also includes a summary of what was discussed at the forum on 19 May, including discussions on the Road Safety Strategy and young driver safety.

Read the full blog post here.

The DVSA will be in touch again to share the code with you before it goes live and invite you to a webinar, so you have opportunity to ask questions about it.

Thanks for everything you do.
